What does it mean to tell someone to "put their money where their mouth is"?
If, for example, I said that I was going to swim the English Channel (very unlikely) someone might say 'Put your money where your mouth is.' In other words; do it, don't talk about doing it.
You can tell someone to "put [their] money where [their] mouth is" if they keep talking about something without backing it up (usually with money).
For example, if someone keeps bragging about how they think a football team will win the Superbowl, you can tell them, "Put your money where your mouth is...let´s bet on it."
Use the expression to suggest someone bet on, invest in, or buy something that they are confident in. You can also use the expression to suggest someone not just "talk the talk" but also "walk the walk."
Got it! ;) Thanks a lot!
