| "Poster" - anything subtitle means an iconic example. For instance, every year Jerry Lewis hosts a telethon to raise money for muscular dystrophy charities. A certain child suffering from the disease is chosen to be pictured on the advertising posters, and he or she is referred to as the "poster child." A particularly handsome, tanned, muscular man might be described as the "poster boy" for Gold's Gym. On the TV show Designing Women, the characters experienced so many disatrous vacations that they finally decided that they would be the ideal poster "children" for Traveler's Aid. |
