get head around
Hello,
He called me his best friend, and we laughed a lot, had many things in common, and adored our son, which made our lack of passion easier to get my head around.
From the above text, I'm not sure if my understanding is correct. From dictionary, "get head around" is to be able to understand something so does the above text mean "they have less passion to be understand each other" (if so why not get our head around, then)?
Please help! Thank you!

It means that the positive aspects of their relationship made it easier to accept the lack of passion.
