Re: grammatical concept phrasal verbs Phrasal verbs are verbs composed of a verb+preposition. This preposition, as opposed to prepositional vrebs, cannot be separated from the verb, for example:
-the plane passed over the house; becomes;over the house the plane passed, and here it is a prepositional verb.
-the Prime Minister passed over the bill;in this case no change is possible,it is a phrasal verb.
The object in phrasal verbs can be in two postions; for example:
- To switch the light off.
- To switch off the light.
I hope this would help. |
