Yes ,or to be used as saying to a friend: " hang in there " or " hold on "
as far as " don't let them get you down " and so on... u can't really be detailed about it.......but that's just my newbie reply,i'm no teacher

Yes, but it has also other meaning. In the one movie two guys were talking about women in the bar. Then, they see two beautiful girls talking. One man is married and the other isn't. That one who isn't asked the other, if he bring them (two girl) over there. The man who is married said no, and when the other ask why he respond: I just trying to keep my head above the water.

What in this situation that means?

Hello and welcome. I would think it means 'keep out of trouble' in that context.
