Default About 'get'

1. As far as I know, get in the way of (sth) means that sth interferes with some other thing so that it prevents sth from developing normally/successfully.

Can we use this phrase with people like that (meaning to cross paths with smb): 'Don't get in my way!' or 'Once you've got in his way, you're dead.' ?

2. There's an expression there was (is) no getting out of it that means 'there was (is) no exit'. Can we use this phrase like this: 'Since there was no other getting out of it, they decided...'
