Thanks for answering my message.
But this is not the question I'm looking for. As I said in my original request, I am looking for a question to get the number as the answer.
eg.
1.Is Bill Clinton 41st or 42nd president?
When I don't want to refer to any number: Is the following correct?:
2.What number of President of America is Bill Clinton?
Can you suggest a correction or a better question.
Thank you in advance

Re: frame a question
There are a couple of ways to do it.
A "fill in the blank" type question
1) George Washington was the first President of the United States. Which President was Bill Clinton?
A multiple choice type question
2) Bill Clinton was the
1. 40th President
2. 41st President
3. 42nd President
4. 43rd President

Re: frame a question
Another possibility:
Which (ordinal number) presidency was Bill Clintion's?

The trouble with all of these questions is that the answer contains all the information, where a natural one would probably contain a pronoun.

What would be an example of that? <curious>

Another possible question:
What ordinal number designates Bubba's presidency? _

What the questioner needs most might be the answer given by Ron as "which presidency is Bill Collition's? " from which you will answer with "42th" only which is just what the questioner want to make.
Hope I make myself understood :P :);)

Which (ordinal number) presidency was Bill Clinton's?
The 42nd
It was the 42nd
He was the 42nd
It sounds a bit strange to have both his name and his number- we'd normally replace the one featured in the question to focus on the answer.
