Grammar question!!!
Please could you guys go through my answer and tell me where I went wrong.
1. I had been to France two years ago.
a) I went to France two years ago. (simple past tense)
Explanation: reference is to a past event

I'll start-
1 c)- you say it is a reference to a past event, but then so is the past perfect. You haven't cleared up why the past simple is preferable here.
2 Check the tense and your explanation is wrong for me- that would be a good reason for using the continuous (progressive) form.
