Hello,
a good book which you may find helpful is Learning Teaching by James Scrivener.
Basically, you divide a lesson into pre-reading, whilst-reading and post-reading activities.
A simplified version:
1) pre-reading - creating atmosphere, pre-teaching important vocabulary...
2) whilst-reading - asking questions before the actual reading, something to focus on (e.g. abc, true or false statements...)
3) post-reading - for example a discussion based on the text
Hope it helped a bit.
Duckie,
Great, thanks for your reply and help!!
Can I ask if you have done the CELTA course ?
You're welcome:-). No, I haven't done it yet. I'm helping my bf to prepare for it. The language analysis tasks are quite all right as I've been studying those at uni but the teaching practice is kind of daunting. Are you about to apply for an intensive course? I'll be more than happy to help if I can.
