Post- CELTA courses

Hi everone!

I did my CELTA two years ago in Turkey, and now I'm thinking of having another TEFL course in Britain. I'm pIanning to go there in the summer for 2 months or so. I have done some online research, but I am not sure which course to attend. Most of the teacher training courses for non-native teachers seem to be fun (with lots of social activities, trips and etc.) but I don't want to attend one of these courses. I believe I want something more "serious" (not as serious as DELTA:)) I want to improve my pronunciation and and study some advanced English grammar. Any suggestions?

Why not the DELTA?

I'm studying for an MA degree on translation studies this semester, so I really don't have enough time for the DELTA right now. Also, I've just read somewhere that you better have a CELTA Pass A to apply for the DELTA (especially for the non-native speakers), I have a Pass B, so I am not sure if I am qualified? Maybe I need some pre-DELTA course?

I haven't heard that, though some places may say it. The Cambridge ESOL page on the DELTA just says an initial ELT qualification- they don't even specify the CELTA.

It's hard to answer your question because most courses for teachers beyond CELTA won't necessarily help much with your language. How about doing something different, like a course in ELT management or something?

You don't even have to have a CELTA at all.

"Delta can be taken at any stage in a teacher's career. It is suitable for people already teaching English in a variety of contexts, e.g. adult, primary, or secondary teaching contexts, and is intended for an international audience of non-first language or first-language teachers of English.
Candidates taking Delta will normally have an initial ELT qualification and will have had at least one year's ELT experience but these are not requirements. The Delta modules may also be taken by:

• teachers who wish to refresh their teaching knowledge
• teachers who wish to review and update their practice
• teachers who wish to extend their expertise in a specialist area."
