Right—a voice is exactly what we'd have expected to read way back in post #1 rather than the voice.
And that's what we've been saying throughout the thread. We would have used "a". We expected to see "a". The author chose "the". We're not going to find out why he did that without a direct conversation with him, and that isn't going to happen. I think we need to move on.
