[Grammar] All I needed to do is Ving/to V/V

1. All I needed to do was pressing the button when these works came passing by my station. (English Grammar, by Yentzu, page 204)
2. All I needed to do was to press the button when these works came passing by my station. (written by me)
3. All I needed to do was press the button when these works came passing by my station. (written by me)

Which of the above sentences is not acceptable to native speakers?
 
None of them makes any sense. I have no idea what "when these works came passing by my station" is supposed to mean but it's unintelligible. In terms of the bold parts, #1 is incorrect.

If that was written as a correct sentence in it, then that book is a strong candidate for the bin.
