[Grammar] Are these sentences correct or wrong?

1. Neuroscientists have long held that glial cells in brain, in which astrocytes are one type, support neurons by protecting them from invaders.
2. Along with several colleagues, I have recently conducted research that offers insight into why many people end up unhappy when please rather than their options expand.
3. Not until the 17th century European naturalists did widly recognize that plants produce sexually.
Is this sentences right or wrong?

I don't know what the underlined part means.

Additionally, 'produce' should be 'reproduce'.

(Not a botanist.)
