When we were asking about the differences between "some" and "any" our teachers were saying: "any" is used for negative and question form sentences and "some" is used for positive sentences. Were our teachers right? So why do you use "any" in a positive sentence? Huh?

It is questions like this that make this forum interesting. Well, the words "any" and "some" both refer to an indefinte amount of something.

Nerksis, any is used both in positive and negative sentences. It depends on the context. Check > dictionary.com/browse/any
