Hello.

I was watching a documentary. In it, an eagle took off from snow-covered ground. As she was taking off, some pieces of snow moved in differed directions. I want to know if "splash" can be used to describe this:

As the eagle took off from the snow-covered ground, pieces of snow splashed in different directions.

I also feel like there is a better word that can be used instead of "piece of snow".

Just snow. Not pieces of snow. As for splashed, I guess it's OK, but it seems like there ought to be something better.

Snow flew in every direction.

We don't really use the verb splash for snow. Only for water or other liquids.

How about shot up/out?
