This afternoon, I suggested eating hotpot next week. My mum recommended some restaurants but I wanted to eat at home. Since we don't have a portable stove, we can't eat at the living room. My mum suggested using the stove at the kitchen so we can sit at the kitchen and cook everything. Although it's strange, I'm not going to buy a a portable stove for just once or twice a year hotpot meal.

What's hotpot?

We prepare raw food and put it into a pot with boiling broth. People sit around the table and pick the food they like and put it into the pot. After a few minutes, they can eat the food. We usually have it in the winter.

Thanks for the explanations. I was confused when reading post #1 because "hotpot" in the UK is simply a meat and veg stew, topped with potatoes and baked in the oven. It would be dished up into individual bowls so could easily be cooked in the kitchen and eaten in the living room! You can see the definitions of both HERE.
