Do both sentences sound natural?


"Divorce hurts kids." Or "Divorce can hurt kids."
 
Yes, they do.

They don't mean the same thing.
 
"Can hurt" means no quotation marks here it is not impossible, if I am not mistaken.

Again, you haven't actually asked us a question but I will assume you would like one of us to confirm your belief. Yes, it can be taken to mean that. Most of us would probably say that it means that it is possible, rather than that it isn't impossible.
 
I like "harm" better than "hurt" here.
