I made a recording, but I didn't know what to do with it after that. I don't know how to upload it. What was it? One word: January. Added: It's clear and distinct.

The "w" sound you're hearing comes any time you say "you" followed by a vowel sound. Say out loud:

- You are
- You aren't
- You animal
- You idiot
- You ought to know
- You underestimated me

You should hear that "w" between "you" and the start of the next word every time. It's exactly the same in "January".

Yes, while leaning it with you, I was omittint /w/ totally. I was saying it /djnuairee/
So it is wrong to say /djnuairee/. Is it /djnuwearee/?

what about this one
I can hear it better now. January -- four times!

Mine is louder. Maybe that's because I speak closer to the microphone. (I wanted to upload it to this thread, but I guess that was too ambitious. 😊)

Jan
You
Airy
Each of those syllables gets the same length when speaking it.
