Please help me with this question which I found in a workbook published in Vietnam. Could you please tell me which answer is correct? I think I can choose A or B.

  1. "Do you think inventions always make people rich?"
- "_________"
A. I agree.
B. I don't think so.
C. It sounds great.
D. No, not much.

I am going to say the same thing I just said in your other thread. Please explain to us your justification for A and B.

  1. "Do you think inventions always make people rich?"

- "_________"
A. I agree. (It means "yes" or " I think so")
B. I don't think so. (It means " no" or " I don't agree")
C. It sounds great.
D. No, not much.

People sometimes answer questions like this with something like "I agree". Careful speakers don't, because the person asking the question hasn't expressed an opinion. I'd mark the answer wrong.

Answer B means "no". It doesn't mean "I don't agree".

Never put a space after an opening quotation mark.
