What is the difference between "firm " and " secure "?
For instance: 1. If you have to climb up, use to firm/secure platform or a sturdy ladder.
2. It was difficult to maintain a secure foothold on the ice.
Thank you for reading in advance

use a to firm/secure platform or a sturdy ladder.
Both work in the first. I prefer "firm" in the second.

They overlap often. I'd say "firm" refers to a strong grasp or hold, and "secure" means something that can't easily be dislodged. But as I said, they often overlap and deciding what to use will become easier with practice.
