Would you tell me your opinion concerning the interpretations of the expression in bald in the following sentences?
You sit down and take it quite calmly. You’ll soon get the hang of the position. (H. G. Wells, “The War in the Air”)
She began to get the hang of those little things which the pretty woman who has vanity invariably adopts. (Th. Dreiser. “Sister Carrie”)
Not that I have quite got the hang of the story yet. (A. Christie, “The Listerdale Mystery and Other Stories”
get the hang of something = make o.s. master of something, adopt something, to learn the method or arrangement of, to become accustomed to
