I found a sentence from Internet that two verbs together in red. Is it wrong?

"...to tell a story that helped explain an increasingly uncertain world to the American people and make them feel that I, as president, could help them navigate it."

The sentence is fine. The story helped explain something.

You can look at it as "help to explain" with the "to" omitted, which is still correct.

HELP is one of the very few verbs in English that can be followed by either a bare infinitive or a full (to-) infinitive with no difference in meaning.

Hi Piscean,

Your explanations are very good and i have learned that from you. Thank you!
One more question, is the word "help" omiting "ed" in the end, do you think is it making any sense?

Always capitalise 'I'. I can't help feeling we've told you that more than once over the years.
