I wouldn't say tortoises can't swim. But they are not made for it. They are land creatures. They do drink water, and that's about all they have to do with it.

Not having webbed feet doesn't mean you can't swim. However, having webbed feet (or flippers) indicates that you are well-suited to aquatic life.

If you already have a tortoise you can keep that one rather than going to the pet shop to get one. Of course, that changes your narrative.

I agree that the text reads better with upper and lower case letters rather than all upper case letters.

The girl not only found the tortoise, she caught it as she was holding it in her hands to show her dad.
