I suggested that he go there.
(subjunctive)
Shakespeare used subjunctive mood. Was he American? That's how Americans say it. Brits usually use the indicative went, which looks bizarre to Americans.
I know. He was the greatest man who wrote in English.I love him so much.Shakespeare (1564-1616) was English.

"We were discussing what might have happened on the night of the murder. I suggested that he went there (to her house), kidnapped the girl, and drove her into the forest. A few others agreed with my scenario."Using "went" makes me think someone(A) is telling someone else(B) what he(A) supposed that B already did. Which is odd because if B already went there, he should know. Unless he has amnesia or something.
