I suggested that he went there.
He suggested to me that I took the oppurtunity.

Are the above sentences correct? Please correct them if they are not.

In American English, only go and take are possible.

I suggested that he go there.
(subjunctive)

I suggested that he go there.
(subjunctive)

That's how Americans say it. Brits usually use the indicative went, which looks bizarre to Americans.

Using "went" makes me think someone(A) is telling someone else(B) what he(A) supposed that B already did. Which is odd because if B already went there, he should know. Unless he has amnesia or something.

Shakespeare used subjunctive mood. Was he American?

I know. He was the greatest man who wrote in English.I love him so much.

The language he wrote in was very different from modern English.

"We were discussing what might have happened on the night of the murder. I suggested that he went there (to her house), kidnapped the girl, and drove her into the forest. A few others agreed with my scenario."

That's how I hear the indicative in that usage. Its use by BBC reporters, in The Economist, and elsewhere by Brits is very jarring to me.

Post #6. "Using "went" makes me think someone(A) is telling someone else(B) what he(A) supposed that B already did. Which is odd because if B already went there, he should know. "

Is it correct to start a sentence with "which" when referring to the previous sentence? Please tell a better way of putting it.

I would use 'That' instead of 'Which'.
