If I am in a car and the brakes are not working and it is going to collide so can I say "I wish it would not collide" or "I wish it do not collide"?

Please check my sentence and guide me.

No, you can't say either. In that situation, you would use "I hope we don't crash!" or "I hope we don't collide with that other car!"

It would be logical if we could describe the act of having any collision as "colliding". Sadly for learners, we have to collide with something else. You could say When I saw the other car coming towards us I knew we were going to collide because two vehicles are implied in the sentence, ours and the one mentioned. You can say The car collided with a bridge abutment. You can't say The car collided (but you can say The cars collided).

What would be the past "I was hoping cars didn't collide"?

"I hoped I didn't hit him while sliding down". Are these sentences correct?

What would be the past tense? "I was hoping the/our cars didn't collide"?

"I hoped I didn't hit him while sliding down".

"I was hoping" and "I hoped" are correct past forms of "I hope". Context would dictate which one you need. However, "while sliding down" makes no sense at all. What were you sliding down?

People usually resort to profanity or other outcries in this type of situation. Or prayer.

Sliding down a swing.

Why on earth are you on a swing in a car with no brakes?
How does one slide down a swing?
And here comes the usual question - in what real-life situation are you going to need this?

By swing I meant this https://www.google.co.in/imgres?img...YLTAhWDvbwKHaYfBOMQMwhAKBswGw&iact=mrc&uact=8. I used to say it in real life when I was a kid and might say it in an amusement park while sliding down from sliding swing (I do not know what is the proper word for this kind of swing).

So can I assume that we've moved on from being in a car with no brakes to a small child going down a slide? Why didn't you start a new thread for your completely unrelated question about being on a slide?

Because it wasn't about car or slide. It was about "I hope I don't hit".

In a car in which the brakes have failed, "I hope I/we don't hit that other car", "I hope I/we don't collide with that other car".
On a slide, "I hope I don't collide with that other kid when I go down the slide". (A Health and Safety officer would no doubt tell you that there should never be two children on a slide at the same time.)
