Yes it is. Whether the board of directors is fine would be a completely different discussion.
 
The entire sentence sounds perfectly fine to me. I can't see any problem "the board of directors".
 
Since this is a specific "board of directors", I would capitalize "Board" and "Directors".

You don't need two 'is' in that sentence.
Here's one where you do: "Is whatever is fine in this sentence also fine in that sentence?"

I meant (even if that's not exactly related to the topic) that the Board of Directors would probably have the authority and/or ability to negotiate with the supplier, not to just accept what the supplier said.
