Is "raining" the subject complement or the object of "kept"?

Forget about trying to analyse the syntax and focus on the meaning and use of the word. The pattern here is keep doing something or keep happening. I'm quite sure you understand what these patterns mean. Here are some good examples:

She keeps making the same mistakes.
I keep forgetting your name.

It keeps turning off by itself.
The radiator keeps hissing.
