Does "jumping into trendy bandwagons" mean the same as "jump on the bandwagon"?
 
I suspect that's a typo and it should have said "onto" and, yes, it's a variation on that set phrase. If it's not a typo, the author might think the idiom is "jump in the bandwagon" but I'm not aware that's the case anywhere in the world.

I suspect the writer just got the idiom wrong. It should be on, or possibly onto.

The word trendy is the writer's own addition to the fixed phrase.
