In this context, I want to know if both learn(ing) and study(ing) are correct.

In dictionaries, I can only find examples of “study history”. But in COCA, there are 70 examples of “learn history” and 120 examples of “study history”.
That’s why I’m confused.

That's a poor definition. To study is to work at learning something. Learning is the result of studying.
