Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
"That’s one of these gun-women," he said, keeping back out of sight. “Shucks, Toy," somebody said, she is just a girl. She couldn’t hit a barn-door.” (E. Caldwell, “Jackpot”, “The Shooting”)
not to be able to hit a barn-door = a poor marksman, miss the mark from two steps
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V
