What does "on the break" mean in football?

61' On the break, Sterling chases down the right and lays the ball into Gundogan's path, but the midfielder's shot on the turn from 20 yards spirals over the bar.

In some team sports, a 'break' is a sudden offensive maneuver when the defending team suddenly gains possession of the ball from their opponent and counter-attacks. Often it involves the now-defenders being outnumbered as their teammates were caught up-field(or up-court).

The term is used in basketball as well as soccer, and possibly other sports.

I believe that football on the break is regarded as a modern way of beating tika-taka. (Not a football follower)

Sometimes "at the break" is also used by the commentator
