To give the right instructions, is it:

Just to be clear, do you mean you prefer the first of the two ways to write your question that 5jj suggested, or that you prefer the first answer?

@Khromatology 5jj wasn't asking you to choose between them. They were showing you two different ways of laying out your post. You need to make the words/sentences you're asking about stand out in some way. In the first example, the relevant sentences are in italics; in the second, they're inside quotation marks. You can just choose one. Here's another option (and how I would do it):

Which of the following is correct?
1. Write your name on the top of the page.
2. Write your name at the top of the page.

That way, the question mark comes in a much more natural place, and providing your sentences as a numbered list makes it easier for us to refer to them in our responses.
