Hello. I'm new in this forum but I usually come here to look for something I need...and I have to admit that this forum is really useful; so thanks in advance for your help.
What today I want to ask you concerns PASSIVE FORM of verbs "TO SUGGEST/RECOMMEND".
I know we can use <<I'VE BEEN SUGGESTED BY MARK FOR THAT VACANCY>> or
<<I'VE BEEN RECOMMENDED FOR THE MANAGER POSITION>>.
But in these case, "Recommended" and "Suggested" are meant as a recommendation for a position or job, and not as a suggestion to action.
Having said that, my question is:
if I want to use the passive form as a suggestion to do an action, how can I do it??
Let's give an example:
ACTIVE ACTION: John suggested/recommended that I go to Paris.
Now, I know we may use <<I'VE BEEN ADVISED BY JOHN TO GO TO PARIS>> but the verb "ADVISE" is mostly used as a warning, alert. In my example, John is not talking about warning or alert, it's just his opinion. That's why I think that the verb ADVISE is not good here.
So, back to my question.
Can I use these following sentences as a PASSIVE FORM???
<<I'VE BEEN SUGGESTED (BY JOHN) THAT I GO TO PARIS>> or
<<I'VE BEEN SUGGESTED (BY JOHN) GOING TO PARIS>>.
Can we use this passive form? or in this case there is no chance to use any passive form?
I'll be very greatful if you could help me to solve out this my doubt.
Thanks in advance
