possessive ’s: sometimes really confusing

I do understand the rules for the possessive ’s quite good, but I’m actually confused about three things:
1-Sometimes possessive ’s is not used such as ‘’door handle’’…why not ‘’door’s handle’’?
2-When to use the ‘’of possessive’’ form (the cartoons of Davaid) and when to use the '' ’s possessive’’ form (David’s cartoons)? Note that I mean that cartoons that are drawn by David, and not cartoons depicting David. 3-How do I write it if I mean the cartoons that depict David?

In "door handle" "door" in an adjective, not a possessive. There is no reason to use a possessive in "cartoons of David". "David's cartoons" is correct. If you mean cartoons that depict David, I would use "cartoons of David".
