Hello everybody!

Suppose you have a ladder whose legs are uneven. You want the ladder to stand as level as possible, so you plan on welding a few pads for the ladder legs to stand on.

Is it right to say "I need to weld some pads for the ladder to stand on as level as possible?

Or

Should I say: "I need to weld some pads in order for the ladder to stay level?

What do you think!

What are the pads made of? I suspect "weld" might not be the word you need.

They are made of steel, and the ladder is inside a tank on board a ship. I know that the pads are to be welded on.

I don't know about the ladder, pads are 100 % made of steel and will for sure be welded.

Maybe I could change the sentence a little and say "In order for the ladder to be level, I need to weld some pads on under its legs "?

What do you think?
