Can I start my sentence with "quite often"?

Quite often, I forget things and lose my books.

Quite often she goes to the same place and reads there for hours.

I would say the first one a little differently. Perhaps:

Quite often I forget things. I even have lost some books that way.

There's something wrong there. I just can't quite work out what you've omitted.

lost?

My phone is giving me fits. I need to get a new one. Yes, it was supposed to be lost.

Added: I fixed that.
