I have heard some dialogues in a movie.

- Sorry, I hope I didn't wake you up.
- No, I was sort of up.

I almost have got something about "sort of" on Cambridge Dictionary but I didn't understand what does "be + sort of + something" mean exactly!

Somebody describe it to me, please.

Thanks.

As your link says, it means "in some way or to some degree".

Yeah, but can you describe it more? in another words, what does "I was sort of up" mean?

You heard some dialogue in a movie, and context should help you figure out the meaning of what is said.

You should have asked for someone to explain it to you, not describe it to you.

It probably means that he/she had got out of bed but had probably not yet had a wash/shower and got dressed, or had breakfast. He/she is "up" (out of bed) but probably not really ready for the day ahead.

Out of bed, but not really ready to speak to people- awake, but not alert.

Probably hadn't had their first cup of coffee of the day. I'm told this is a problem for some people! I wouldn't know - I don't drink the stuff. ;-)
