Dear Teacher

There are five main structures which we can use to make a simple statement.

1- subject + verb
2- Subject + verb + object
3- Subject + Verb + complement
4- Subject + Verb + Adverbial
5- Subject + Verb + Object + Object. for Ex: David bought Melanie a present. Red is object

Welcome to the forum. Do you have a question for us?

5- Subject + Verb + Indirect Object + Direct Object. for Ex: David bought Melanie a present. [STRIKE]Red is object[/STRIKE]The indirect object is green, the direct object is red.

Look at this sentence and then write the letters (a-e) in the correct place.
a-[STRIKE] t[/STRIKE]Tha[STRIKE]r[/STRIKE]t was a difficult job.
b- I agree.
c- I am on my deathbed.
d- someone should give us a medal.
e- I have made some more tea.

[STRIKE]Who I[/STRIKE] How can I understand it[STRIKE]? [/STRIKE] and differentiate them:?:
I don’t understand 3,4 and5:-(

Welcome to the forum, Dado. :hi:

Please don't use large fonts. Many of us find them difficult to read.

The colours I have added may help you.

Thank you....
But, I don’t understand
What is the Object,Complement and Adverbial

Thank you...
What is Object , Adverbial and Complement?
Dado, you posted that response thirty seconds after I posted the links. Why dont you read those articles? You can then ask about anything that is still not clear.

Dado, when a word or phrase appears in blue and is underlined when you put the cursor over it, it is a link to a page where you can find more information simply by clicking on it.
