Taipei, July 31 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton duo Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) won their country's first Olympic gold medal in the sport Saturday, when they prevailed over a third-seeded Chinese pair in the finals of the men's doubles competition at the Tokyo Games.

The CNA is a news agency in Taiwan, but the blue text sounds to me as if the badminton duo wasn't from the same country as the CNA. I don't know if it is just a style of English writing.

I would write: ... won the country's/Taiwan's first Olympic gold medal ....

It's fine as it is; "their country" clearly refers back to Taiwan ("Taiwanese badminton duo") and attaches the nationality and country to the players. Where the news agency is based is irrelevant. If the CNA wanted to make some kind of connection clear, they'd have used "our country's first Olympic gold medal". However, that would sound very odd and no journalist would use it.
