Is it okay to say something "teased one's appetite"? Is this okay?

The aroma of fried shrimps teased Linda's appetite even though she had just eaten dinner.
 
Yes, but don't pluralize shrimp in this instance.
 
As a native BrE speaker I would say "shrimps" rather than "shrimp".
 
This native speaker of BrE would say 'shrimp'.
 
Prawns are not readily available here. You might see different sizes of shrimp but no prawns at all. (I'm not sure why that is.)

As well as the biological distinction colloquial BrE only uses "shrimp" in culinary terms for the tiny brown shrimp.
 
Here in the US, we can enjoy the delightful oxymoron of "jumbo shrimp."
