(Not a teacher)

As you may have noticed, everything must agree in number.

Yes, such questions are acceptable in these forums.:)

How about these?

1. That kind of cars is all sold out.
2. That kind of cars are all sold out.
3. That kind of car is all sold out.
4. Cars of that kind are all sold out.
5. Cars of those kinds are all sold out.

#5 may be grammatically correct but it actually does not convey what the speaker means to say. There is only one kind (type) the speaker has in mind, while he needs to refer to multiple cars that belong to that same kind. Also, #3 does not sound quite right either (regardless of the grammar) because it sounds as if there was only one car.

bump

Basically, I was asking if #4 of the previous post was grammatically correct. I thought #1 and #2 were grammatically incorrect. #3 and #5 might be grammatically correct but not appropriate in the context.

Any help?

#3 and #4 are ok. The others are not.

Bhai, not 5?

At the car rental counter:
A: I'm looking for a compact or a sub-compact.
B: Sorry, cars of those kinds are sold out.

I would prefer "Those kinds of cars" but I wouldn't say it was wrong. Would you?

Yes you are right, it's not wrong, it's just awkward.
