Hello,

I am writing a story. I want to suggest that a lot of people were moving in a shopping mall without a purpose or direction. What verb can I use which has that meaning?

Also, what if I want to suggest that they all move in the lives without purpose or direction? What can I say?

They're meandering/drifting/roaming/wandering.

rambling, roving, gallivanting, loafing

What do you think about this?

The people were wandering aimlessly in the mall. That's what they do in life too. They meander without a purpose to reach nowhere.

How well does this work?
