We need to blow the amber until it becomes fire.

Is this a correct sentence?
 
It's grammatically correct. That does not, of course, mean it makes sense.
 
Are you absolutely sure you mean "amber"? Look up "ember" and see if it makes more sense.
 
We’d say ‘… until it catches fire’ (if we believed that could possibly happen).

Also, while you "blow" a horn, you "blow on" embers (if that's what you want to do).
 
If you have no regard for the well-being of your lips, you might attempt blowing an ember.
 
Yes, the singular is used, particularly when talking about primitive fire building.

I see no reason why it couldn't be used in other contexts as well.
