Hi,

It is common to see the words "stage clear" in video games, but what does "clear" actually mean here?
I thought it meant "completion" but I cannot find such reference in an online dictionary.

Also I am not sure about its part of speech. If "clear" is an adjective, would "stage cleared" be valid?

Thank you.

Adjective definition 6d or 6e work here. The idea is that the stage has been cleared (verb definitions 4a or 4b) of opponents or objectives.

'Stage clear' is an adjective. 'Stage cleared' could be viewed as a verb or a participial adjective.

It is clear now. (4a?) Also I could not think of the possibility of "cleared" as a verb.
Thank you for the reply!
