What is the difference between "mail in" and "mail out" or "send something in" and "s

What is the difference between "mail in" and "mail out" or "send something in" and "send something out"?

Insurance rep: please "mail in" or "send in" all your documents.

Me: okay I will "mail them out" or "send them out".


Does the person who want to receive the mail says "mail documents in" or "send documents in" and the person who has to send them needs to say "mail documents out" or "send documents out"?
