Could you tell me why this sentence is incorrect? I think I saw this kind of structures on the net .

The cupboard was shaking when I reaching for the cup.

You do not use the continuous tense without the verb is/was/are/were. You have that in the first part; what makes you think that it can be omitted it in the second?

Because of "participial construction" , I thought it is possible.

Note my corrections above. Don't put a space before a comma.
