We like to believe that learners are actually reading and taking our advice. Replying to a post reminding you that you need a closing punctuation mark at the end of every sentence with another post without a closing punctuation mark doesn't give us much hope that you're taking any notice.

1. He stood there with [=holding] his hat in his hand.
2. I left the money in the car (along) with my keys

I'd like to know if "with" has the same meaning as "with" or "with".

*He stood there with his hat in his hands.*

He was holding his hat in his hands.

*I left the money in the car with my keys.*

I left the money and the keys in my car.

I don't think "with" means different things in those sentences nor do I understand what is confusing you. What am I missing?

I wonder how you used to teach this particular sense of like (like + to-infinitive) without using the word 'preference'.

As I don't believe that like means prefer, it never occurred to me to use the latter verb.

Well, what do you think it means then? I'm asking how you would explain this particular sense of like.

I don't think that has any relevance to the original topic of this thread.

It's a pretty basic meaning of with. From Longman:

using something or by means of something
  • Chop the onions with a sharp knife.
  • What will you buy with the money?
  • I amused myself with crossword puzzles.
  • a hat decorated with brightly coloured feathers
I.e. replying ... with another post.

The without that you highlighted is irrelevant to with — the prepositional phrase without a closing punctuation mark adjectively modifies another post.
