article before lack
1.There is /was (not are or were) no lack of +noun in sing.or pl.
2.There is 0(=no article) lack of
3.There is a lack of
4.There is the lack of
5.There is a +adjective + lack of
6...for 0(= no article) lack of ...
7....because of a/the lack of...
Msst we obey the above 7 priciples in using lack as a noun?
Can we say for a lack of water, because of lack of water,great lack of water,and why?Thanks a lot!

You may say all of those.
"Lack" acts like other nouns. You could replace it with "absence".
