I have to name the sentence structure and a brief description of the use.
I have my answers but the answers I have are not correct.

I put- past perfect?
use: describing two actions that were both completed in the past

Why don't we buy him a book?
I put- present simple
use: using "don't to ask why a question. But I don't understand what the teacher wants.

I am used to eating hot food.
I put- present continuous but this is wrong
use: to show habit and familiarity but this was marked wrong too.

I find it very hard to help you here because I cannot understand exactly where your teacher is coming from.

Is this for a high school or a college course? How old is your teacher? In the USA I would not be too surprised to find that if you teacher is younger than about 40, he or she may well not really know his or her grammar and syntax.

I would help if I could understand better what is being asked.

The past perfect is often used for one event in the past completed before a later past event.

It's the present simple. This could be a question about why an action does not take place. It could also be a suggestion about a future action. That will depend on the context.

It is not the present continuous. It is the present tense of 'be' + 'used to', which is followed by the -ing form of the verb.

Do you suppose that your teacher, in asking for the sentence structure, is asking for the "part of the sentence", in which case, a term like "subject" or "predicate" is going to be called for, not the tense of the verb?
